Welcome to African-American Farmers and Ranchers of Oklahoma
Preserving Legacies. Cultivating Futures.
At African-American Farmers and Ranchers of Oklahoma (AA-FRO), we are more than just a network — we are a movement rooted in resilience, unity, and purpose. From generation to generation, Black farmers and ranchers have tilled the land, nurtured communities, and contributed to Oklahoma’s rich agricultural heritage. We exist to ensure that legacy continues — stronger and more empowered than ever.
Based in Bristow, Oklahoma, our organization is devoted to providing access to equitable resources, empowering sustainable farming, and restoring the rightful place of African-American farmers and ranchers in agriculture. Whether you’re a producer, advocate, or ally, we welcome you to join our mission.
Our Services
1. Technical Assistance & Training
We provide hands-on workshops, mentorship, and one-on-one guidance for farmers and ranchers to build their knowledge in agriculture, livestock management, soil health, and agribusiness.
2. Land Preservation & Legal Support
We assist with land retention strategies, help resolve heirs’ property issues, and provide access to legal resources to safeguard generational land ownership.
3. Access to Grants & Funding
Navigating agricultural grants can be difficult. We help connect our members to USDA programs, private funding opportunities, and microgrants tailored to small and minority-owned farms.
4. Youth Engagement & Education
Our youth programs inspire the next generation through school partnerships, agriculture camps, mentorship, and hands-on learning about sustainable farming and food justice.
5. Sustainable Farming Programs
We promote climate-smart agriculture by offering training and tools in regenerative farming, organic practices, conservation, and renewable energy use on farms.
6. Community Outreach & Advocacy
We represent the voice of Black farmers in policy conversations, statewide coalitions, and rural economic development forums to ensure equitable representation and impact.
